Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation allows adults to feel right at home in the treatment chair, even if they have a long treatment or intense dental anxiety. Before your appointment, Dr. O will prescribe a pill for you to take, either Valium or Halcion, which will help you feel relaxed by the time you reach our dental office. Because the effects of oral conscious sedation can linger for up to several hours after your visit, you’ll need to have a trusted friend or family member ready to drive you to and from our office.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide sedation is administered in-office, once our team helps you get comfortable in the treatment chair. We’ll place a small mask over your nose that will allow you to breathe in a colorless and odorless mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Within a couple of breaths, you’ll feel calm and even euphoric, helping you feel right at home. After the treatment is complete, our team will remove the mask. Because side-effects don’t linger, most patients are able to carry on with the rest of their day as they normally would.

IV Sedation

Our team partners with specially trained nurse anesthetists to provide IV sedation, which involves administering a medication directly into the bloodstream for near-immediate and long-lasting effects. Throughout the appointment, the nurse anesthetist will monitor your vitals and can adjust the level of medication you’re receiving depending on your body’s response to it, helping you feel a prolonged sense of comfort and relaxation.
